Mostecká Street

A street in the Lesser Town linking the Lesser Town square with the left bank end of the Charles Bridge. Due to this position, it has been one of the significant transport arteries of Prague for centuries, it gained its urban character after the 1503 fire and finally during the times under Rudolph II. For very long time this street full of pubs and taverns used to be known for fights, thefts and murders, at the beginning of the 19th century, there still was a warning sign with a painted chopped off hand hanging. Its current name has been officially valid since 1911.
